Worship Time continues at 10:00 am through the end of August.

All Church Work Party Let’s gather tomorrow, August 2 at 10:00 am for a couple of hours of performing small tasks that make a big difference in how our church appears to visitors.

Memorial Service You’re invited to attend a celebration of life for Sig-Linda’s mother, Sarah Jacobson, who passed away earlier this year.  The service will be this Saturday, August 3, at 11:00 am, here at VHUMC.

Worship in the Great Outdoors!  We will worship outside at 10:00 am this Sunday, August 4, with plenty of music, great conversation, and communion.  Kind of like our usual first Sunday of the month, but with a breeze!  Plenty of stable seating in shady spots, so please plan to attend on this special Sunday.

National Neighborhood Night Out  On Tuesday, August 6, we’ll be handing out balloons and info at Alpenrose Dairy.  Come be a friendly face to our neighbors between 6:00 and 8:00 pm.  Did we mention the free ice cream?

Last Chance  There are a few spots open for a day at the Millers riverside cabin in Welches, OR, on Saturday, August 10.  You choose your level of activity; hamburger picnic provided.  This auction item costs $45 per person; contact Linda directly on her cell phone if you’d like to attend.  And please mark your check as “auction.”

Town Hall Meeting  Another reason for a potluck!  After worship on Sunday, August 11, we’ll gather, eat, and learn more about the Seven Passions of VHUMC.  Please bring a dish to share.

Multnomah Days Parade  On Saturday, August 17, let’s make our presence known by marching in a parade!  This is Multnomah Village’s largest event of the year, bringing in 7000+ people.  The parade begins at 10:00 am, with live entertainment, vendors, and food all day.  If interested, please contact Bryan Cooper at for more info.

Starbucks  The church has registered to transport excess food from two KFCs and a Starbucks to those who need it.  We’re looking for one (or more) persons to pick up at the Starbucks location at 12700 SW North Dakota St (off Scholls Ferry Rd) in Tigard.  Pick up will be two or three times a week.  Please contact the church office for more details.

Capital Improvement Campaign  We’ve raised almost half of the $6000 needed for a new heat pump for the Fireside Room.  Please prayerfully consider donating, above and beyond your Sunday offering, to this need.  Checks should be marked for CIC.  You may also donate through the Online Giving on our website.

Weekly Communion  Beginning on August 18, communion and prayer will be available in the sanctuary every Sunday following worship.  Please be respectful and move quickly out of the building into Fellowship Hall for coffee time.  Thank you!

Membership Class  Interested in learning more about membership in Vermont Hills?  Please attend on Sunday, September 15, after coffee time.  Pastor Bo will lead the session which will last about 1 – 1.5 hours.

Free Film  West Hills Unitarian Universalist Fellowship is screening a short film “Trans Dudes with Lady Cancer” on Wednesday, August 7, at 7:00 pm.  There will be a Q&A with the filmmakers afterwards.  WHUUF is located at 8470 SW Oleson Rd.  Here’s the flyer.

Voluntary Disclosure Form  If you work with children at VHUMC, please complete and return one of these forms to the church office.

Fred Meyer Community Rewards  Link your FM Rewards card with Vermont Hills United Methodist Church (code SY323) and the church will receive a percentage of all your purchases.  In two months, only four families have linked their card.  Let’s triple that by the end of summer!  If you have questions, please contact the church office.  We want to help!

Sunnyside Needs  Items that are always needed for their homeless ministry: new socks and underwear, laundry detergent, gently used jeans and towels. Put your items in the “treasure box” by the church office door.  Thank you!

Giving by Text  Text a dollar amount to 503.966.5879.  This is through the same company that handles our online giving, so it’s safe and secure.

Book Group Join us Wednesdays at 7:00 pm in the Fireside Room in reading and discussing the book, “Bowling Alone: The Collapse and Revival of American Community” by Robert Putnam.  Our next series, the book of Job in the bible, will begin on September 18.

Talk N Thought  The “dynamite” ladies of TnT are reading “Educated: A Memoir” by Tara Westover.  Join them every Tuesday at 1:00 pm in the Fireside Room and share in great conversation, snacks, and reading/discussing insightful books.
