Sun 10:00 am:  Worship  (Meeting ID 409 087 237)
Wed  10:00 am:  Wednesday Gathering (Meeting ID 409 087 237)

Summer Hours  During July and August, both the Sunday and Wednesday online gatherings will begin at 10:00 am.  BrainStorming with Bo is on hiatus, but tune in at 9:30 am for casual conversation with your friends.  BS with Bo will resume in September; email him with any topic ideas you have.

Outdoor Service  With rising numbers in Covid cases we prayerfully decided to reschedule the outdoor worship service to August 16 at 10:00 am. Our commitment to ‘do no harm’ means that we have to show an abundance of caution for our congregation and our community. So stay tuned for more details. One thing is certain – the outdoor service will also be available online for those who prefer to stay home.

ImBible Study   ImBible will return in August for a bit of the Koran, and the rowdy and irreverent books of Amos and Hosea beginning in September.

Love is Resilient  The Reconciling MInistries Network put together a worship service and virtual Pride parade.  See the entire thing here (the parade begins about 57 minutes into the video.)  You may see someone you know!

Job Opportunities  Habitat for Humanity ReStore is hiring. They are currently are looking for a Director of Procurement, plus several in-store positions. Those interested can apply online at  https://pdxrestore.org/jobs

Our New District Superintendent  Many of you know our new DS, Tim Overton-Harris, from his years as pastor of VHUMC.  As he transitioned from DS of Cascadia to Columbia district this week, he sent a letter with the following paragraph:
“At this moment in history there is only one thing to focus on, racism and privilege. The Covid-19 pandemic pales in comparison. By any matrix you want to use; numbers infected, deaths, economic disruption, etc. the pandemic of racism and white privilege in the United States is devastating.”

Face Masks  When we re-open for worship, everyone will be required to wear a face mask.  If you do not have access to a mask, please email the church office.  We want everyone to be prepared and be able to participate.  Thanks!

Blogging Your Feelings  Contact Pastor Bo if you would like to contribute to the church’s online blog.  No experience necessary; just put your thoughts and feelings on paper.

It’s Painting Weather!  The church’s exterior is in need of re-painting.  Pastor Bo has volunteered to prep areas, so that all you need to do is show up and paint. Email him at VHUMCpastor@gmail.com and arrange your time slot.  Ladder-climbers particularly welcome!

Easy Giving

  • Try the free mobile app GivePlus. If you already use our online giving, enter that username and password, or create a new account.  You can give either from your bank account or a credit card.  You have the option to add 1 – 2.65% to offset the fees charged to the church.
  • Amazon will donate a small percentage to VHUMC for every eligible purchase.  You must designate Vermont Hills as your charity of choice and start at smile.Amazon.com every visit.
  • Link your Fred Meyer Rewards card with Vermont Hills (code SY323) and the church will receive a percentage of all your purchases.  It costs you nothing and you still receive all your usual benefits.

Talk N Thought  The “dynamite” ladies of TnT are meeting in the circle drive at the church when the weather isn’t too threatening.  Every Tuesday at 1:00 pm.  If you’d like to be included in their email list, please notify Linda Miller.

Prayer Chain  Email your prayer requests to PrayerVHUMC@gmail.com. If you do not have access to email, you may call Linda Miller at 503.699.8628.  The ‘Prayers of the People’ is crafted weekly from this information; please indicate if your prayer is private.
