Goodbye and Thank You!
After 21 years at VHUMC, Joy Wegner will be retiring at the end of the summer.  We will celebrate her ministry on a date TBA.  Please pray for her and Scott, and SPRT as they search for her replacement.

Outdoor Movie for All Ages
We’re watching a classic, “My Neighbor Totoro,” on Saturday, July 17.  We’ll gather at 8:30 pm to pitch our lawnchairs; movie will begin around 9:00.  The youth will provide popcorn (donations welcome!) but bring your own drink. (Rain, heat domes, or wildfire smoke will move us into Fellowship with masks)

Young Adult Group Forming
Christ United Methodist Church in Cedar Mills is starting a Young Adult/College Group and invites all UM churches in the area.  They are throwing a get-to-know-you party at 11914 SW Jessica Way in Beaverton on Wednesday, July 21, from 7:00 – 8:30 pm.  S’mores and yard games are on the agenda!  Call Tonya at 503-320-5548 for more info.

Virtual Class on Race and Racism
Salem First UMC has created an award-winning study on Race and Racism.  Resources used include videos, essays, movies, books, and speakers.  Each class begins and ends with a devotional thought or prayer. The class began in 2020 and will continue through 2022.  On July 12, Pastor Kalina Seluvaia Malua Katoa, an immigrant from the Tonga islands, will highlight some of the challenges faced by Pacific Islanders in Oregon and the U.S.  Because it is virtual, the class is not limited to church members. If interested in attending, please contact Cesie Delve Scheuermann at She will be happy to provide information and the link to join the class.

We have chosen to use to raise funds to re-pave our parking lot.  We have put up banners so that others who use our parking lot (gardeners, preschool families, etc) can pitch in.  We’re challenging everyone at VHUMC to make a small donation, to generate enthusiasm and “buzz” for the fundraiser.  You can also share the link after you donate.  Go to and let’s kick it off!  Thanks!
