Church Open for Phase 2

We’re ready for some adventurous types to join us on Sunday, Mar 14, at 10:30 am as we worship in person!  We can take just five more folks, so please email the church office today if you would like to attend.  Masks and distancing will be a priority.

SW Hope
Join Neighborhood House for their 15th annual SW Hope community food and fund drive to support the NH Food Pantry – the largest food pantry on Portland’s west side. This year, the goal is to raise $50,000 (each dollar = 4 lbs of food!)  With more food-insecure households due to COVID, they have nearly tripled the number of individuals they serve through the food pantry. Please give through our website or mail a check designated for SW Hope.

“Take-out to Donate”
SW Hope includes a few events.  The first is at Salvador Molly’s, 1523 SW Sunset Blvd in Portland.  Order take-out on Tuesday, March 9, and 10% will go to SW Hope.  See the poster with the full calendar of events here.

Mid-Week Check-in
We’re changing the time to 9:00 am on Wednesdays, beginning March 10.  Join us for 20-30 minutes of conversation, intentional prayer, and peace.

“Seeing the World Through Rosé Colored Glasses”
Auction 2021 is all about hope and possibilities (and perhaps wine!) 😊
Bidding begins in just 8 weeks!  What will you donate?  You can’t go wrong with home-baked, -brewed,  or -made.  Do you have gift cards that you’re not going to use?  Or perhaps you’ve spent the last year clearing out closets and cabinets…donate the best of your excess.  Ask your favorite business to donate a service or a gift card; they’re always looking for new customers. Donations and questions can be emailed to

Sig-Linda has forwarded this request to us, from someone she trusts:
I am a responsible senior woman living on a fixed income, seeking rental space – i.e. a mother-in-law apartment, guesthouse or “carriage house” – where I can exchange some tasks for reduced rent.  Grocery shopping, cooking, and light gardening are examples.
I am a former postpartum doula of eleven years, and for the last twelve years I have worked part time as a personal assistant for a physician and her family, and I have excellent references.
When Covid lifts I will still be engaged in my storytelling/acting career.  I am a healthy, reliable, quiet person who would like a landlady/landlord with the same qualities. I have no pets and do not use tobacco or drugs.  Please contact me at: or 206-304-4063

BrainStorming with Bo   Join us on Sunday mornings at 9:30 am for dynamic conversations!

ImBible Study   We continue our study of the book of Acts – jump in any time! Join us on Wednesday nights at 7:00 pm, using the link above.

  • Link your Fred Meyer Rewards card with Vermont Hills (code SY323) and the church will receive a percentage of all your purchases.  It costs you nothing and you still receive all your usual benefits.
  • Have a vehicle (car, motorcycle, boat, etc) that is just hanging around your house?  Now you can utilize to donate the sale to VHUMC.  Click on “Choose a Nonprofit” and enter the details at the bottom of the page.  Click on our logo to learn more and start the process.  Easy peasy and the church gets 70% of the sale!
