BrainStorming will continue to be online only.  The new time, 9:15-10:00, will allow you to drive to church for worship.

BrainStorming with Bo

New time beginning this week!  9:15 – 10:00 am.  BS with Bo will remain online only but you should be able to get to church for worship by 10:30.

Bake Sale for SW Hope
We will be having a bake sale this Sunday, Apr 3, after worship.  Proceeds will go to the SW Hope Food and Cash Drive.  You may drop off your baked goods before the worship service.  No pricing is necessary since it will all be donations.  Please package your items to go; food will not be consumed onsite. Email Virginia with any questions.

All Church Work Party
This month’s ACWP, this Saturday beginning at 10:00 am, will focus on getting the church campus ready for Easter.  Tasks include:

  • Finishing the picnic area
  • Digging out blackberries
  • Working on the plants at the bottom of the hill
  • Working in the meditation garden

Fireside Friends
We’re meeting on Monday, April 4, at 5:00 pm in the Fireside Room and on Zoom (Meeting ID 966 225 0807, Passcode: VHUMC)  If coming in person, remember to bring all of your materials, whatever state of completion they are in.  See you then!

Filling the Eggs
We could use bags of candy or small toys for the egg hunt on Easter morning.  Please bring them to church this Sunday or next.  Thanks!

Upcoming Events for your Calendar
This Sunday, April 3
We are back in the sanctuary!  Masks are encouraged.  We will celebrate communion and donate to the Good Sam fund through our Pennies from Heaven offering.  There will also be sign-up sheets for events.  And birthday cards to sign!

Bake Sale* after worship – bring wrapped items to the breezeway; purchase a treat to take home!
Sunday, April 10  Palm Sunday
Special liturgy will make this a special service
Projectionist Training will follow at 11:30.  You are invited to attend if you would like to assist one Sunday a month.
Second Sunday Spiritual Practice at 3:00 pm.  Meet at church to carpool to a nearby labyrinth.
Friday, April 15  Good Friday
Our traditional Tenebrae service returns at 7:00 pm
Sunday, April 17  Easter
There will be a pastry breakfast* before the service, beginning at 9:30 (there will be no BrainStorming with Bo).  After worship, the younger children will get to hunt for Easter eggs* in the meditation garden.
Sunday, April 24  Volunteer Appreciation Day
We couldn’t have made it through the last two years without the time and energy that our faithful volunteers put in.  The staff will serve lunch to everyone after the service.  All are invited!

Auction 2022
We’re back!  We are planning an in-person event (date TBA), complete with decorations, food and a live auction.  So start thinking about what you would like to donate, who you might solicit a donation from, and how you would like to participate in the fun.  Here’s a letter you can use for donation solicitation: donation request.  Contact Virginia C to join the planning team, or with any questions.

Save the Date
Woohoo!  We will have a booth at the Portland Pride Waterfront Festival on June 18 and 19!  Anyone who is interested in helping man the booth, please contact Elizabeth Stelle or the church office.  Ideas for inexpensive giveaways are also appreciated.

SW Hope Food Drive
This year’s campaign is about to wrap up. Donating cash is the best way to support SW HOPE as $1 buys 4 pounds of nutritious food.  You may designate Neighborhood House when you give through our website.  Check out for the latest update on events.

Talk N Thought  The ladies of TnT have just begun a new book, The Book of Forgiving: The Fourfold Path for Healing Ourselves and Our World.  Written by Desmond Tutu and his daughter, Mpho, an Anglican priest, it “lays out the simple but profound truths about the significance of forgiveness, how it works, why everyone needs to know how to grant it and receive it, and why granting forgiveness is the greatest gift we can give to ourselves when we have been wronged.”  If you’ve been considering joining TnT, now is the perfect time. They meet every Tuesday at 1:00 pm in the Fireside Room and also online (Zoom room 966 225 0807, Passcode: VHUMC)  For more information, please contact Linda Miller or the church office.
