BrainStorming with Bo
At BrainStorming this Sunday (9:30 am) let’s talk about this article from ‘Wired’ magazine about the dystopian future that is so prevalent in ads like the ones that aired during the Super Bowl:  Bo will also be referencing this podcast episode of “The War On Cars” which reviewed all of the car commercials.  Bonus: it includes every ad on YouTube in case you missed it!

All Church Work Party
Spring is just around the corner!  Help us prepare the campus for a glorious new season this Saturday, Mar 5, beginning at 10:00 am.  You may choose to work inside or outside.  Tasks include:

  • Select plants to be removed from planting area along breezeway (under Trustees direction)
  • Pruning in the front corner of FH (under Trustees direction)
  • Blackberry vines to be dug out, located under and around first fir tree along south side of driveway
  • Some pruning/clean up in Memorial Garden (under Trustees direction)
  • With regard to the ravine, there is to be no more dumping of limbs/branches/large berry canes into it.  Only leaves, etc., that will decompose.


  • Replace ceiling light bulbs in sanctuary
  • Take down and fold the quilts in the chapel
  • Replace freshly painted molding in the chapel, etc.

Watch Party this Sunday
You are invited to join this Sunday’s worship watch party in the sanctuary.  Bo will speak from the Fireside Room and the service will be projected on the big screen.

Fireside Friends
Our quilting group will be meeting in person in the Fireside Room this Monday, Mar 7, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm.  Newcomers welcome!  We will also be in the usual Zoom room for the sake of our far-flung friends!

SW Hope Food Drive
Support the 16th annual SW HOPE food and cash drive!  Last year, Neighborhood House served nearly 10,000 individuals through their food pantry. This year, their goal is to raise $70,000 to continue providing food for the food-insecure. Donating cash is the best way to support SW HOPE as $1 buys 4 pounds of nutritious food.  You may designate Neighborhood House when you give through our website.  Check out for the latest update on events.
This week’s featured events:

  • Live Music at First Friday, March 4, 4:30-6:30 pm – in front of Neighborhood House (7780 SW Capitol Hwy)
    Bring a food item or make a cash donation and be entered into a raffle to win local gift certificates and prizes from Multnomah Village businesses, including a 500-piece puzzle and a $10 gift certificate from Peachtree Gifts; tea from Aesthete Tea; a $25 gift certificate to Annie Bloom’s Bookstore; and a $50 gift certificate to Baker & Spice! Live music provided by Any Dog’s Day, and refreshments provided by Trader Joe’s.
  • Dine out to Donate, Monday, March 7

Bake Sale for SW Hope
We will be having a bake sale on Sunday, Apr 3, after worship.  Proceeds will go to the SW Hope Food and Cash Drive.  All bakers are encouraged to participate!  If you need to have your baked goods picked up, please contact the church office by Wed, Mar 30.  Email Virginia with any questions.

SWPCC Fundraiser
These last two years have been difficult for the preschool that uses our Fellowship Hall during the week.  If you’re in a position to help financially, here’s your opportunity.  The children will be participating in a walk-a-thon on Saturday, Mar 12, from 9:00 – 11:00 am on the parking lot circle.  There will be popcorn and lemonade for sale.  You may also support them through a donation for laps walked or a flat amount.  Contact the church office with any questions.
