New (photo-less) Directory  The directory has been revamped and a prototype will be available this Sunday for your review.  Please let the office know of any errors or omissions.

New Photo Directory  In an effort for all of us to know everyone else, we will be taking photos this Sunday for a new photo directory.

Meals for the Sanders  As CJ recuperates, they would greatly appreciate having their dinners provided.  Sign up here:  As noted on the website, you can deliver to their home or to the church on Sunday or Wednesday.  There’s also an option to donate financially if you’re unable to provide a meal.  Please note that CJ is both gluten- and dairy-free. Thanks!

Potato Bar!  Yay, it’s that time again – the famous Baked Potato bar is this Sunday, March 17, after worship.  Spuds and all the toppings.  This is a fundraiser for different activities that Elizabeth Brown leads for the church, so bring your checkbook or piggybank.

District Table Talks  What happens next?  Our local discussion will be held on March 17, 3:00 – 5:00 pm, at First UMC, 1838 SW Jefferson St, in Portland.  Register today at

Town Hall Meeting  We’ll continue the conversation about the future (and other matters) during coffee time on March 24.  Plan to stay after worship.

LGBTQ Program  On Wednesday, March 20th, the Q Center will begin offering a support group on religious wounding. In this moment of renewed repressive rhetoric and violence, members of the LGBTQ community are experiencing new and retriggered trauma from religious wounding, by those who try to cloak their fear and prejudice in the guise of faith. If you would like to participate, contact or simply attend at 6:30 pm in the Q Center library, 4115 N. Mississippi, Portland.

SW Hope Food Drive  This annual event benefits the emergency food pantry at Neighborhood House.  Cash donations are particularly appreciated, since they can purchase four pounds of food for every dollar given.

Fifth Sunday Game Night  Let’s see if we can beat last time’s record-setting attendance!  From 4:00 – 6:00 pm on Sunday, March 31, gather in the Fireside Room for card and board games, potluck snacks, and great fun!

Tulip Farm  A literal “field” trip to Woodburn, OR, to see acres of gorgeous tulips.  We’ll leave after church on Sunday, April 7.  Bring a sack lunch, beverage, and shoes for possible muddy conditions.  RSVP to

Whatcha Gonna Donate?  Less than seven weeks until our annual auction on Saturday, May 4.  It’s not too early to begin soliciting donations from businesses you regularly patronize, starting that homemade project, or buying gift cards through our scrip program (April 14).  Contact Janet Zimmerdahl for all the details at 971.303.1641 or

BrainStorming with Bo  Join us at 9:00 am in the Fireside Room — and discover just how much fun Sunday School can be!This Sunday’s topic is “N is for Narrative.”

ImBible Study  Our feisty, fantastic bible study group is exploring the book of Esther.  Join us on Wednesdays at 7:00 pm in the Fireside Room, with an optional second act at the pub afterwards.

Talk N Thought  The “dynamite” ladies of TnT are beginning a new book, “Educated: A Memoir” by Tara Westover.  Join them every Tuesday at 1:00 pm in the Fireside Room and share in great conversation, snacks, and reading/discussing insightful books.

Prayer Chain  Please email your prayer requests to If you do not have access to email, you may call Linda Miller at 503.699.8628.  The ‘Prayers of the People’ is crafted each week from this information; please indicate if your prayer is private.

Spotlight On…  Scrip program.  This is a hidden gem!  Once a month, you get the opportunity to buy gift cards (“scrip”) for yourself or others.  Delivered the next Sunday, they work just like any other gift card, BUT the church receives a small percentage of the price.  For example: In March, ten orders were placed, and the church received $175.  Win-win!  Next Scrip Sunday is April 14 – bring your checkbook!
