For this Sunday, we’re reading Chapter 24 of We Make the Road by Walking: “Jesus and Hell”

Scrip Sunday  is this Sunday, February 10th!  New vendors are Cracker Barrel ($25 cards, 8% goes to VHUMC), Happy Teen Card ($25 @ 5%), DSW ($25 @ 8%) and Victoria’s Secret ($25 @ 5%).  Bring your order and check to the Fellowship Hall following service on Sunday.  Orders will be delivered the following Sunday.  Any questions call Linda Miller 503-699-8628 or email

Spiritual Practices  We’ll be walking a labyrinth on Sunday!  Our start time will be earlier, 4:00 pm, so that we can walk in the daylight if the weather cooperates.  We will have an indoor version if it’s too nasty outside.

Pub Chat  On Tuesday, February 19, we’ll be discussing “Why liberals don’t believe GMO science.”  Check our website for more and join us at The Lodge at Cascade Brewing, 7424 SW Beaverton Hillsdale Hwy, at 7:00 pm.

Gabriel Park Event  Friday, March 15, the Parks for New Portlanders organization is hosting a casual dinner to welcome, honor, heal, and celebrate all Portlanders, of all ages, especially refugee and immigrant families.  Admission is free; food carts will be on site. If you’d like to be part of a group to meet our neighbors, please contact the church office.

Save the Date!  We’re volunteering at Habitat for Humanity again on Saturday, March 30, from 8:45 am – 3:30 pm.  We can take only 15 folks, so sign up early by contacting the church office.

Prayer Chapel   Our chapel, located at the NE entrance of the main building, is now open for prayer and meditation every Thursday from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.  Please pray for our Western Jurisdiction delegates and others attending the Special Session in February, that they vote to include LGBTQ persons at all levels in the Methodist church.  For background info, visit

BrainStorming with Bo!  We’ve begun another ABC’s series of new concepts!  This Sunday’s topic is “ E for Emergence.”  Next week’s topic is “G is for Gay Christians.”  Join us at 9:00 am in the Fireside Room — and discover just how much fun Sunday School can be!

ImBible Study  Our feisty, fantastic bible study group will begin the book of Esther on February 13. Join us on Wednesdays at 7:00 pm in the Fireside Room, with an optional second act at the pub afterwards.

Talk N Thought  The “dynamite” ladies of TnT would love to have you join them every Tuesday at 1:00 pm in the Fireside Room.  Expect great conversation, yummy snacks, and reading/discussing insightful books.  They will begin a new book soon, so attend now to help choose.
