Communion This Sunday
We will celebrate communion together this Sunday at 10:30 am, as we continue to worship online only.  Be prepared by having some bread and a beverage ready.

The pandemic has people thinking differently about everything from work to family to traffic. Our topics for this Sunday include:

  • Oakland banishing cars from 74 miles of city streets. (Mercury News)
  • Urban planner Mike Lydon is keeping track of all of the cities launching #Covid19Streets.
  • Cities Close Streets to Cars, Opening Space for Social Distancing (New York Times)
  • To help essential workers get around, cities are revising traffic patterns, suspending public transit fares, and making more room for bikes and pedestrians (CityLab)

All Church Work Party
This Saturday, Feb 5, at 10:00 am, we’ll be working outside.  One project is improving and restoring the picnic area to the south of Fellowship Hall.  Bring your work gloves and get involved!

Cookie Sale!
We have a Girl Scout at VHUMC!  So you know what that means – cookies!  You can support Avery and her troop at  Choose ‘in-person delivery’ or ship a minimum of four boxes to anyone in the country!  Change the world by supporting the best program for empowering young girls and women.

Fireside Friends
We will be meeting online on Monday, Feb 7, at 5:00 pm in the usual Zoom room (meeting ID 409 087 237).  Our goal is a lap quilt for the Hayhurst Elementary auction this spring.  It’s not too late to join in this fun project!  Contact Elizabeth B for more info.

Love Beyond Borders
Want to be more involved in solving the pandemic globally?  Join the Greater Northwest Area of the UMC for an online presentation, “Love Beyond Borders: The Interfaith Movement to End the Pandemic” on Thursday, Feb 10, at 6:00 pm.  For more information and to register, click on this flyer

Committee Training
Laity serving on local church committees, especially those who chair administrative committees, are encouraged to attend a Greater Northwest Area-wide training on Saturday, February 26, 2022. The two-hour training will be offered online starting at 10 a.m. by district superintendents and staff of the Alaska, Oregon-Idaho and Pacific Northwest Conferences. Those new to their roles or to leadership of committees are strongly encouraged to attend.
