Children’s Education Meeting  This Sunday after worship in the Fireside Room. Childcare will be provided, but older children are welcome to attend. Contact Bryan Cooper with any questions.

Ash Wednesday Service  West Portland UMC, 4729 SW Taylors Ferry Rd, is hosting a 7:00 pm service on Wed, Feb 26.  All are invited.  Gather and open your hearts to this season.

Enneagram Typing  Minda Redburn, a certified professional in the Enneagram field, is offering free personal interviews during coffee time on Sundays.  Before the interview, you need to read a very small book (available at church for $12, cash or check.)  Please sign up at the Welcome Table or contact Minda at mindared@gmail.com to learn more.  You are also invited to observe interviews to learn more about other types.

Worship Through Song  Last chance to join us for a Palm Sunday (Apr 5) cantata. If interested stop by the sanctuary at 12:30 this Sunday to practice.

Family Promise  Help Family Promise fulfill a dream of having an actual home for their guests to use during the day, giving them laundry facilities, showers and bathtubs, a yard for playing and growing vegetables, and a refuge from the harsh reality of homelessness.  They must raise $100,000 by Feb 29 to purchase this miracle.  Every little bit helps!  Please donate at https://charity.gofundme.com/o/en/campaign/be-the-promise.

Easter Boxes  We are sending gift boxes to all of our college students.  If you would like to send items, there are six of them: Kendra Z, Katie and Lizzie R, Jacob E, Kian M, and Hayley C.  You may bring your gifts to the large box in the church lobby.

SW Hope  Every spring, local faith communities and businesses in SW Portland partner together to raise food and money for Neighborhood House’s food pantry, which provides emergency food boxes to more than 1,400 people a month.  NH is able to purchase four pounds of food for each dollar donated.  The drive runs from Mar 1 through Apr 4.  If you’d like to contribute, please mark your check with “SW Hope” or click here.  Other ways to participate:

  • March 1: Interfaith Kickoff from 2:00-3:00 at St. Barnabas Episcopalian Church, 2201 SW Vermont St, Portland
  • March 2: “Dine out to Donate” night at Sasquatch Brewing
  • March 12: Screening of the documentary, “Priced Out,” at 7:00 p.m. at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian, 3228 SW Sunset Blvd, Portland
  • March 16: “Dine out to Donate” night at Salvador Molly’s
  • March 24: “Friends and Family Night” at McMenamins Hillsdale
  • April 4: Pancake Breakfast from 8:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the Lucky Lab, Multnomah Village, served by the Kiwanis Club.
  • April 4: SW Hope 5K run at Gabriel Park, 10:00 a.m. kids start time, 10:30 a.m. adults start time.

Bethlehem House of Bread  Thank you to those who donate and deliver. BHoB’s mission is to provide not only food but also clothing and household essentials, such as baby formula, diapers, and personal hygiene products, for those going through challenging times.  We will be expanding our partnership with them soon!
