Christmas Drive-Thru
This Sunday, Dec 13, from 1:00 – 3:00 pm, you’re invited to drive through the circle at church and pick up a Christmas goody bag!  Bags will include a handcrafted candle by Pastor Bo, to be used during our candlelight Christmas Eve service. Remember to wear a mask and stay in your car to be safe. You may also drop off:

  • Your 2021 pledge card
  • Clean, gently used, warm clothing and blankets for migrant workers in the Western Farm Workers Association
  • Christmas gift cards for Hayhurst families (more info below)
  • Knitted or crocheted items for Blanchet House

Hayhurst Christmas
Since we weren’t able to have a Christmas Angel tree this year for the children of Hayhurst Elementary, the school has suggested that we give gift cards.  The best choices are retailers that sell both food and gifts, such as Fred Meyer, Target, Walmart, and Amazon.  Any denomination is appreciated, but five $10 cards are more useful than one $50 card. You may bring your gift this Sunday to our drive-thru, or place it in an envelope and drop in the mail slot to the right of the main door.  All cards must be at the church by Wednesday morning, Dec 16, to be delivered in time. Thank you for your generosity!

Christmas Carols
Stick around after worship this Sunday and on the 20th, as we sing our favorite Christmas carols!

Advent Devotional
We’re entering the third week of Advent.  Meditate on the season with this special devotionalMaya Angelou and the Freedom Poetry of Advent.  Here are the printing instructions.  Here’s an eBook version if you prefer.

BrainStorming with Bo  We continue “Expanding the Conversation.”  Join us at 9:30 am on Sunday using the link above.  Next month, we’ll begin a study using the book, Acts: A Theological Commentary on the Bible, by Willie James Jennings.  Put it on your Christmas wish list!

The Stitchuation
Cold weather has returned and, with it, the need for warm clothing for the homeless.  If you knit or crochet, please consider making a gender-neutral hat, scarf or gloves for Blanchet House.  Adult sizes only. Here’s a link to a list of beginner patterns:  Contact the office with any questions.

Easy Giving

  • Try the free mobile app GivePlus. If you already use our online giving, enter that username and password, or create a new account.  You can give either from your bank account or a credit card.  You have the option to add a bit to offset the fees charged to the church.
  • Amazon will donate a small percentage to VHUMC for every eligible purchase.  You must designate Vermont Hills as your charity of choice and start at every visit.
  • Link your Fred Meyer Rewards card with Vermont Hills (code SY323) and the church will receive a percentage of all your purchases.  It costs you nothing and you still receive all your usual benefits.
  • Have a vehicle (car, motorcycle, boat, etc) that is just hanging around your house?  Now you can utilize to donate the sale to VHUMC.  Click on “Choose a Nonprofit” and enter the details at the bottom of the page.  Click on our logo to learn more and start the process.  Easy peasy and the church gets 70% of the sale!

ImBible Study   Join this gathering that looks at the bible with a 21st century lens.  Wednesday evenings at 7:00 pm (link above.)  We are “majoring in the minor prophets”!

Wednesday Morning Check-in  Bo leads us through a 10-part prayer using prayer beads.  A half hour of joy and peace midweek. You can join us in the Zoom room (link above) or on Facebook.
