All Saints Sunday This Sunday, October 28, at the 10:30 worship service, we will be remembering all those who have died since November 2017. If you would like your loved one’s name read during the service, please email the church office, officeVHUMC@gmail.com, or Pastor Bo, VHUMCpastor@gmail.com.
Portland 4T Trail The four T’s stand for train, trail, tram and trolley. See some great views, walk about 2.5 miles, and have fun! Elizabeth Brown is leading this expedition on Saturday, Nov 3, for all interested parties. We’ll meet at the church at 10:00 am. Bring $20 for lunch, coffee, and transit pass. Dress for the weather!
Charge Conference Sunday, Nov 4, from 2:00 – 5:00, we will be meeting with several other United Methodist churches in our area for our annual meeting. This is the most important district gathering for our church, as we will envision our future for 2019. Please plan to attend at Christ UMC, 12755 NW Dogwood St, Portland.
All Church Work Party We are re-scheduling the November work party to be on the second Saturday, Nov 10, so that all may attend both the Portland 4T Trail event *and* come help with church maintenance. We gather at 10:00 am and do valuable tasks that keep our campus thriving. If you’ve been wanting to help out, this is your opportunity.
New Member Sunday We are bringing in new members next week, November 4. If you attended the most recent member class here at VHUMC and would like to officially join this congregation, please contact Pastor Bo or the church office. All are encouraged to worship with us to welcome our newest members!
Grocery Bags Needed Our Hayhurst Backpack Ministry uses 24 bags per week to pack food for children who might otherwise go hungry over the weekends. Please bring any large paper bags with handles to church. Save and bring them all year!
Spotlight On… Habitat for Humanity! One of the community groups we partner with, HfH currently has three very active construction sites in the Portland metro area. Now until Dec 31, Rogue Ales will donate $1 for every pint of Hazelnut Brown Nectar purchased at one of their three PDX pubs. Habitatportlandmetro.org/htbb
