For this Sunday, we’re reading Chapter 23 of We Make the Road by Walking: “Jesus and the Multitudes.” 

All Church Work Party  This Saturday, Feb 2, beginning at 10:00 am. 

Sunnyside Community House  Still looking for someone to make another run to Sunnyside Community House with our donations.  If you’re available to deliver these warm items to them, please contact the church office.

Souper Bowl Chili Cook-off  This Sunday: big screen football (and ads!)  Bring your best chili (or snacks, toppings, dessert) and your favorite beverage for a great evening in the Fireside Room.  Admission is a can of soup or other non-perishable for our food pantry.  Kick-off time is 3:30 PST. 

BrainStorming with Bo!  We’ve begun another ABC’s series of new concepts!  Join us at 9:00 am on Sundays in the Fireside Room to find out how they apply to you — and discover just how much fun Sunday School can be!

Spiritual Practices  We’ll be walking a labyrinth on Sunday, February 10.  Our start time will be earlier, 4:00 pm, so that we can walk in the daylight if the weather cooperates.  We will have an indoor version if it’s too nasty outside.

ImBible Study  Our feisty, fantastic bible study group are already halfway through the book of Ruth.  Esther will be starting soon.  Join us on Wednesdays at 7:00 pm in the Fireside Room, with an optional second act at the pub afterwards.

Columbia District Laity Event  A new movement is emerging out of the dreams of the laity. Come share your voice, your thoughts, your passion and Lead the Way!  This Saturday, February 2, from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm at Oak Grove UMC.  Lunch and childcare (5 and under) provided. Register at

Gabriel Park Event  On Friday, March 15, the Parks for New Portlanders organization is hosting a casual dinner to welcome, honor, heal, and celebrate all Portlanders, of all ages, especially refugee and immigrant families.  Admission is free; food carts will be on site.  Volunteers are needed; sign up at

Prayer Chapel   Our chapel, located at the NE entrance of the main building, is now open for prayer and meditation every Thursday from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.  Please pray for our Western Jurisdiction delegates and others attending the Special Session of the General Conference in February, that they vote to include LGBTQ persons at all levels in the Methodist church.  For background info, visit

Birthday Cards Needed  If you have spare cards lying around, please consider donating them to the church.  More people = more birthdays!  (yay!)  And if the office doesn’t have your birthday and address, please supply it, so that *you* get a card on your birthday!

Talk N Thought  The “dynamite” ladies of TnT would love to have you join them every Tuesday at 1:00 pm in the Fireside Room.  Expect great conversation, yummy snacks, and reading/discussing insightful books.  They will begin a new book soon, so attend now to help choose.
