1 Auction Event-Elk Burgers & Africa Tour – Saturday, January 20th at 5pm in Fellowship Hall, Scott and Joy Wegner will be your cooks and tour guides and giving a presentation of their recent trip to Africa. They will also be cooking up elk burgers (yes, they were the hunters!) and providing buns and all the condiments. Please sign up ahead of time, so they know how many elk burgers to prepare! Also, please sign up to help with the rest of the meal – salad, dessert, drinks (lemonade!), and to help with set-up and clean-up. There will be a sign-up list available at church – see Mark or Janet Zimmerdahl. $10 per person, payable either before or at-the-door of this Auction Event. All are welcome!

2 Scrip Sunday is this Sunday, the 14th! This church fundraiser does not cost you anything. Scrip is purchased at the value of the gift card, and the church receives the percentage listed on the form. Order on Sunday the 14th and pick up on Sunday the 21st. Bring your order form and check to Fellowship Hall. If you are unable to attend Sunday Service, order forms and checks can be left at the church office ahead of time. 3 Faith, Justice, Reconciliation – Saturday, February 3rd, a one day event with Dr. Christina Cleveland will be at Portland First United Methodist Church, 1838 SW Jefferson St, Portland. For more information and to register, see the back of the Worship Guide:

4 Online Giving – We have added an option for online giving! We have added an option for online giving! For those who would like to move to online giving, we have partnered with a great company (Vanco). They provided an easy interface and security for churches. Our website now has a page with simple instructions and user links for your convenience at: It is easy to use and very secure.

5 Hayhurst – Thank you so much for purchasing Christmas gifts for the Hayhurst children. We also gave each family $200 Fred Meyer gift cards. They were so grateful & I received hugs & smiles from each Mother. It was so gratifying. Thank you again for your generosity. Blessings, Children’s Task Force

6 Transportation Needed – We have several long-term members who are in need of a lift to church. Jo Traugh is in particular need at this time. Both Dottie Alsman and Grace Holbrook need a ride from time to time. Please prayerfully consider signing up. We are looking for people willing to drive particularly to church and church events. 8 Talk and Thought will meet on Tuesday, January 16th at 1pm in the Fireside Room. We are currently reading Just Mercy by Bryan Stevenson. As is our tradition, it will be read and discussed in the group. For more information, contact Linda Miller at or 503-699-8628.

9 Progressive Bible Study – Every Wednesday night at 7pm in the Fireside Room we read the Bible with a twist. Join us and explore the gospel of Mark through a 21st century lens. It might look very different than it did before.
