Online…Again
Due to the dramatic rise in COVID cases, we have made the difficult decision to return to online only gatherings through the end of January.  We must do everything we can to keep ourselves, and everyone around us, out of the hospital, for the sake of our overworked healthcare professionals.  Let’s do it for them.

Naked in the New Year
This Sunday, we begin our 12-week journey that will strip off all of the religious baggage that weighs us down and holds us back. ‘Naked Spirituality’ by Brian McLaren will shape our theme on Sunday mornings, in both our 10:30 am worship service and our adult Sunday School, BrainStorming with Bo, at 9:30 am.  Use the links above to participate.

BrainStorming Resumes

We’ve got three fantastic topics lined up for this Sunday at 9:30:

  • Providing homes by printing them
  • The UMC commission on race and religion for the MLK weekend
  • ‘Naked in the New Year’ kicks off

Fireside Friends
We will be meeting online on Monday, Jan 17 and 31, in the usual Zoom room (meeting ID 409 087 237).  Elizabeth B will teach us how to do English paper piecing.  Our goal is a lap quilt for the Hayhurst Elementary auction this spring.  You can pick up a bag of supplies, including fabric and thread, from the breezeway, for your “homework.”  If we run out of bags, please contact Elizabeth.

Virtual Health Fair
This 4-week online health fair, presented by the Greater Northwest conference, begins tonight.  The first session, Holy & Healthy, will be led by James N. Tate III. This hour long presentation aims to motivate, educate, and inspire Christians to live a holy & healthy life, through nutrition education and the wellness scriptures of the Bible. James N. Tate is a Health Minister, Author, and Holistic Wellness Practitioner.  The class is from 6:00 – 7:00 pm.  For more information and to register, click on this flyer

Interfaith Legislative Forum
Oregon Coalition of Christian Voices is presenting an overview of legislative issues of concern to faith communities, including housing, climate, farmworker rights, and gun violence. Legislators will inform participants of the issues, and offer ways to be most effective in their advocacy.  Next Sunday, Jan 23, from 1:30 – 3:30 pm. Register here

Committee Training
Laity serving on local church committees, especially those who chair administrative committees, are encouraged to attend a Greater Northwest Area-wide training on Saturday, February 26, 2022. The two-hour training will be offered online starting at 10 a.m. by district superintendents and staff of the Alaska, Oregon-Idaho and Pacific Northwest Conferences. Those new to their roles or to leadership of committees are strongly encouraged to attend.
