Life as Liturgy

This Sunday our theme is based on the 4 verbs in the story of the last supper. Jesus took the bread, blessed it, broke it, and shared it.

These 4 words will provide our structure for the communion service as well as our inspiration for the week.

  • We take what life gives us
  • We give thanks and bless it
  • We break it
  • We share it with others

This is a ‘liturgy for life’. This pattern or routine is a challenging way to life for sure. It requires us to develop character and to gain perspective. We often need others to help us through difficult seasons or to see the way forward.

The payoff is worth the effort though. A life built around consuming is empty and ultimately we are consumed. A life full of regret or unforgiveness leads to anger or depression.

In these 4 words is a better way to live.

It is not easy all the time (to say the least) but it is a beautiful way to be in the world and it opens up new possibilities for joy and meaning.
