The focus of our April Second Sunday Spiritual Practice is “Healing as a Church Ministry”.
We will be taking a field trip to Trinity Episcopal Cathedral to attend a Taizé Service.
A Taizé service is a contemplative worship experience that involves sung and chanted prayers, meditation, liturgical readings, icons, laying on of hands and healing prayer. There is no preaching. Taizé worship originated with a monastic community located in Taizé, France in the 1940s and is being incorporated in a wide variety of churches, Protestant and Catholic.
Besides Trinity, several churches and organizations in the Portland area offer Taizé services including Our Lady of Sorrows Parish, Westminster Presbyterian Church and Lewis & Clark College.
The service is from 5 to 7 PM. Due to limited parking at Trinity we will gather at VHUMC at 4:15 to carpool.
Please email officeVHUMC@gmail.com if you need a ride to or from the event.
