Preview for this Sunday:

Outdoor Sunday

Last Chance to Give Us Your Feedback!  Would you please take this 2-minute, 7-question, anonymous survey?  https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/BF92JLF  Thanks so much!

New Website!  We’ve launched a new website (same address: www.vermonthillsumc.org).  There’s lots of new content, a new calendar, and it adapts to various devices — your smartphone, tablet, and laptop.  Give it a run and let us know how we can make it stronger and clearer.

Picnic in the Park  Join with other Reconciling United Methodists this Saturday, August 11 for an afternoon of sharing and caring.  Beaverton First UMC will provide the grilled meat; attendees are to bring side dishes.  The fun begins at 3:00 at BFUMC, 12555 SW 4th St.  Forgot to RSVP?  You’re still welcome!

Choir Call  We want you!  People who praise God with their voices!  Whether you can read music or not… whether you can attend every Sunday or not… If you are willing to try, we want you!  Choir does a “run through” at 10 am for that Sunday’s music and rehearses new music after coffee hour.  Come as you can. We resume rehearsals on August 25.  Contact Joy Wegner at 503.244.1238 for more information.

Pub Chat  Tuesday, Aug 21, 7:00 pm at The Lodge at Cascade Brewing.  Here’s this month’s topic: https://www.ministrymatters.com/all/entry/9126/incivility.

Car Needed  Bob Prouty, a missionary in Australia with ties to VHUMC, will be in the Portland area next month and needs the use of a car.  If you have a car he could borrow, please contact Virginia Ottmar at 503.246.7346 or the church office.

Sunnyside Community House (SCH)  We have begun a new partnership with the former Sunnyside UMC.  SCH provides “radical hospitality,” by offering weekly meals, regular day shelter, clothing exchange, showers, and a warm and friendly place for anybody in need.  There are numerous ways to help.  See the trunk by the office for material items to donate.  Visit our website for other ways to assist this very worthy cause.

Continuing…  Two groups continue to meet throughout August: Bible Study, this Wednesday at 7:00 pm; and Talk N Thought Book Group, Tuesdays at 1:00 pm, currently reading “I Am Malala.”

International Opportunity  Our UMC Conference is hosting an event in late August for United Methodists from around the world.  A dozen participants will be arriving 2-3 days before the event and will need housing and some transportation.  If you’d be interested in being a host, please contact the church office for more information.

Prayer Chain  Please email your prayer requests to PrayerVHUMC@gmail.com. If you do not have access to email, you may call Linda Miller at 503.929.6696.  The ‘Prayers of the People’ is crafted each week from this information.
