If you read nothing else, read this: wear RED this Sunday for Pentecost!
We need coffee hosts for May 27 and June 10 – please sign up or call the office!
For a preview of this Sunday’s service,
Scrip Sunday is this Sunday! This church fundraiser does not cost you anything! Scrip is purchased at the value of the gift card, and the church receives the percentage listed on the form. Consider ordering cards for graduation gifts, summer travel, and the essentials you buy everyday. Please use the attached form!
Talk N Thought “‘Mercy is radical kindness,’ Anne Lamott writes in her enthralling and heartening book, Hallelujah Anyway. It’s the permission you give others—and yourself—to forgive a debt, to absolve the unabsolvable, to let go of the judgment and pain that make life so difficult.” Sound relevant to your life? Join us on Tuesdays, from 1—3pm, in the Fireside Room as we read, laugh, and ponder together.
VHUMC Travelers All are invited to our next meeting on Thursday, June 7 at 1pm! We will discuss our upcoming trip to Europe, view highlights of last year’s trip, and narrow down our choice for 2019’s trip. This is a fun group, and you may want to travel too. You do not need to be a member of VHUMC. Friends and/or family are always welcome in our tour group. We have found travel to be personally enriching: learning about culture, art, history, and geography from well informed guides. And enriching for the church, as about 10% of the tour fees are returned to the church. This year’s tour will return over $7000 to VHUMC. Questions? Contact Linda Miller (503-699-8628 or email@example.com).
All Church Work Party Sure, John is out-of-town right now, but that’s no reason to neglect our church home! There is a task for everyone, and hopefully, everyone for a task. Be here at 10am on June 2nd and we’ll be done by lunchtime. P.S. We have 4+ outside groups visiting our campus in the following weeks. Let’s make it look good.
SAVE THE DATE! We will celebrate our graduates with a potluck lunch on Sunday, June 3.
Sacred Everyday Our Sunday series on finding the sacred in the mundane is gaining followers around the globe. Read along in the book, “Liturgy of the Ordinary,” available on Amazon, Kindle and Audible. To read daily blogs by members of our VHUMC family, be sure to visit our website, http://vermonthillsumc.org/category/sacred-everyday/, or follow VHUMC on Facebook.
Prayer Chain Please email your prayer requests to PrayerVHUMC@gmail.com. If you do not have access to email, you may call Linda Miller at 503.929.6696 . The ‘Prayers of the People’ is crafted each week from this information.
Emergency Contact and Volunteer Skills Inventory The Connexions Team is gathering information all about you! Please take the time to tell us how we can help you in an emergency, and how you can help your church family. Forms are available on the Welcome table.
