Community Partners

We have some great groups that we partner with.

Reconciling United Methodists:  Along with 900+ communities, we declare ourselves to be a faith community intent upon reconciling all God’s people.  We declare that our inclusion embraces gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered persons within every aspect of our life together.  For more: https://rmnetwork.org/

Produce for People: Our back parking lot was returned to green space, which is now part of the Portland Community Garden’s Produce for People (PFP) program, providing food, fellowship, and fun.  For more: https://www.portlandoregon.gov/parks/65818

Neighborhood House: We hold two annual food drives, as well as donating our weekly “spare change” to this organization which helps thousands of low-income children, families, and seniors across the greater Portland community.  For more: http://www.nhpdx.org/

Backpacks for Hayhurst: Every week, we purchase and pack bags of groceries for Hayhurst Elementary to distribute to children with weekend food insecurity.

Southwest Parent-Children Collective:  An ever-changing group of children and their parents, who, with professional teachers, conduct a preschool here at VHUMC.  They get a safe and secure location; we get the joy of children’s laughter.  For more: https://www.swparentchild.org/

Sunnyside Community House: For our newest partner, we collect items for their Houseless Ministries: backpacks, tents, sleeping bags, clothing, and personal hygiene needs.  For more: Sunnyside Community House list of needs

Habitat for Humanity: One of our oldest partners.  Come help us as we transition back into a community of doers, as well as givers.  For more: https://www.habitat.org/
